Data We Collect
When you use The List, we collect information you provide directly, including your name, username, email address, optional phone number, profile bio, city, profile photo, and a unique account identifier. We also collect the places you save, ratings and visit notes, lists and list comments you create, reactions, and friend or follower connections. When you use map-based features or enable location nudges, the app may process precise location data. We also process subscription status and purchase history so we can provide paid features.
How We Use It
Your data powers the core app experience: authenticating your account, syncing saved places, personalizing recommendations, showing nearby places, delivering notifications, managing subscriptions, and enabling shared lists and friend connections. We also collect limited installation and usage information—such as an app-generated installation identifier, app version and build, authentication state, version-gate status, and use of legacy or current app interfaces—to measure release adoption and reliability. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Third-Party Services
The List uses Convex for authentication, data storage, and real-time synchronization; Cloudflare for media storage and delivery; RevenueCat to process subscription status and purchase history; and Apple's MapKit for map rendering and place search. RevenueCat may receive your account identifier, email address, display name, phone number, device information, and purchase information to provide subscription functionality. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
Location Data
Location access is used for two features: showing your position on the Explore map and sending nudge notifications when you're near a wishlist place. Location data is processed on your device for geofencing and is not continuously tracked or stored on our servers. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings or within the app's notification preferences.
Your Rights
You can request a copy of your account data or delete your account and user-linked content at any time. To manage privacy preferences, visit the Profile tab in the app. Privacy-separated installation telemetry cannot be joined back to an account and expires automatically within 400 days; aggregated legacy-usage records expire within 200 days.
